Life Goes On

The other day on our walk home from picking my daughter up at the bus stop I asked her how her day was. She said, "I don't want to talk about it." This is a fairly typical response from her. It isn't that she was sad or anything bad happened, she just doesn't want to talk about it. It's over and done with and she is happy to be engaged in what is happening in that moment.

What comes so very naturally to her, I've been working to adopt for years. The principle of being in the now,  being in the moment. It seems I have spent a great deal of my time searching for pause buttons, do-over buttons, fast-forward and skip altogether buttons, and let me tell you, what a stinkin' waste of time it is! They are nowhere to be found. The unicorn of wishes I suppose.  Byron Katie says, "when you argue with reality you lose. But only 100% of the time." Oh, how I love to argue with reality!

If I know one thing, it is this: Life goes on. Change will always find you. Kids will grow, people will move, people will die, relationships will change, seasons will change, you will change and I will change... the world will change. There is nothing so constant as change. AND SO, I resolve to quit looking for buttons that don't exist and fully embrace and LOVE that life goes on!

My daughter is my favorite teacher.
